JobProx seeks crowdfunding for proximity-based job search app

Think every sort of innovation has already been brought into the job search process? Think again.

JobProx is currently seeking crowdfunding support on Indiegogo to launch an app that would tie into LinkedIn, and use proximity tools to alert an employer when a candidate happens to be nearby, presumably so they could say hello and put a face to the resume. If the job seeker has the app enabled, the employer can send a meet request. The job seeker can choose to meet now, to arrange a future meeting, or say no thanks.

According to JobProx, they’ve been working on the concept of the app for months and are now ready to move to the next phase: development. That’s where crowdfunding comes in; they’ve set a goal of $10,000 to raise through Indiegogo within 35 days to help develop the app.

“We have a great team dedicated to this project and we’re determined to produce a final product that is visually appealing, easy to navigate and glitch free,” said Alex Mendoza, spokesman for JobProx. “What we absolutely love about this project is the fact that anyone and everyone has the opportunity to be a part of bringing it to life, which is the beauty of crowdfunding.”

Supporters will be offered a range of perks, such as beta versions of the app, app memberships, t-shirts, professional neckties and bags of SWAG.
