Klick Epic Office Remix with Andrew Huang

As far as Christmas songs go, “Jingle Bells” is as familiar as they come – but you’ve probably never heard it quite like this.

Toronto-based company Klick Health has launched its own take on the holiday favourite, bringing together all the sounds you normally associate with an office and remaking them into a coherent track bursting with Christmas spirit. Launching the video at the beginning of December, the company tapped Andrew Huang, a well-known YouTuber, musician, and fellow Torontonian, to help them produce the track. The clip has since been viewed about 814,000 times.

Things start off with Huang entering Klick’s offices and asking the receptionist to meet with a guy named Steve. (Maybe it’s this Steve?) It starts to take off once he observes all the typical office noises – the tapping of a pen, the swiping of a smartphone touchscreen, the sound of someone shaking the sugar next to the coffee machine … And then everything breaks loose, with popcorn machines, Nerf gun fights, and employees at a Santa-themed dance party joining the fray. All in all, Klick has probably created the best Jingle Bells remix anyone’s ever made using the stuff you find at Staples.

Still, though the video stars Huang, it was a team effort, with more than 400 Klick employees contributing 134 office-related sounds. Total loops and re-loops? About 1,256.

The project took four days of filming, with the video team shooting about 12 hours each day. To get all the right sounds, the team had to “capture a shot or sound every 20 minutes,” said Glenn Zujew, Klick’s executive creative director, in a press release.

“I actually walked the floor here for about a week just recording, writing down every single sound that I could hear,” Zujew said.

That’s a lot of work, but the video does a great job of capturing the company’s culture and its penchant for unique, quirky campaigns – like the one it ran in July in hopes of attracting new employees.

And hey, it’s also made a pretty catchy rendition of Jingle Bells.
