HP and EMC cut a deal

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Two enterprise giants EMC Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. are set to ink a deal to cross license storage systems application programming interfaces. The technology exchange will facilitate each company’s development of storage management applications capable of managing each company’s

respective storage systems.

Under the terms of the agreement, EMC is licensing APIs to support discovery and control functions of EMC Symmetrix and Clariion storage systems. HP, on the other hand, will license APIs to support discovery and control functions of the HP StorageWorks Virtual Array systems and the StorageWorks XP systems. This agreement expands on a previous arrangement between EMC and Compaq Computer Corp., who merged with HP in May of this year.
