Google Canada today announced it is accepting applications until June 21 for the third cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Canada program

The accelerator is designed to bring Google’s programs, products, people, and technology to startups that use machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) in their companies today, or plan to in the future. In addition to mentorship and technical project support, the accelerator also includes deep dives and workshops focused on product design, customer acquisition, and leadership development for founders.

As with the program’s other cohorts, Google says it plans to work with 8 – 12 Seed to Series A innovative technology startups that are headquartered in Canada. The program is open to startups across all sectors and will kick off the week of July 25th.

Participating startups will be provided with detailed technical training and strategic development opportunities with the company’s ML, people, product, and growth labs, Ashley Francisco, head of startup developer ecosystem, Canada at Google, noted in a blog post.

“Google for Startups Accelerator Canada has been impactful across every facet of our company. The Google mentors were incredibly helpful, offering validation and insight across tech, culture, and scalability to expedite our growth and solve some of our most pressing challenges. Our time in this accelerator has been a considerable milestone in our journey as a company,” said Sara Benbrahim, chief operating officer and co-founder, Phelix AI, a participant in cohort two of the accelerator program.

Format of the accelerator program

The accelerator runs entirely virtually for a period of 10 weeks, with digital workshops, programming, and mentorship taking place each week. As part of the Google for Startups Accelerator Canada, selected founders outline the top challenges facing their startups, and are then paired with relevant experts from Google to help solve those challenges. Participating startups receive mentorship on technical challenges and machine learning, as well as connections to relevant teams from across Google.

Who should apply to the accelerator program?

Google explains the accelerator program is best suited for Seed to Series A revenue-generating tech startups that are headquartered in Canada. Selected companies should have a minimum of 5 to 10+ employees, and the founder and appropriate team members must be available to join all program elements of their cohort. Participating startups should use AI/ML technology in their product, service, or operations today and/or show interest in using this technology in the future.
