Fortinet joins HP ProCurve alliance program

SUNNYVALE, Calif., — Fortinet said it is the first security partner to join the Hewlett-Packard’s ProCurve Alliance, a recently-announced program designed to offer customers security, mobility and convergence solutions that have been tested and qualified for interoperability with ProCurve offerings.

Fortinet will extend its FortiGate multi-threat security platform to the ProCurve network environment, playing a role in its ProActive Defense strategy for securing networks against internal and external threats.

Fortinet said it will benefit from increased opportunities and market awareness resulting from the collaboration. ProCurve and Fortinet are already working together on product certification through extensive testing that will help to ensure solution interoperability.

“Amidst an increasingly complex threat environment, networks in and of themselves must become more and more secure,” said Richard Stiennon, chief marketing officer for Fortinet. “Utilizing Fortinet’s ASIC-accelerated security appliances with ProCurve’s ProActive Defense strategy further extends ProCurve’s leadership position in enhancing the security of networks and providing customers with the deployment choice and flexibility they require.”

Fortinet said its multi-threat security appliances can couple closely with ProCurve’s Network Immunity Manager to enable increased protection from internal and external threats. ProCurve Network Immunity Manager is a security management application that monitors switch ports across wired or wireless networks for virus attacks and allows administrators to set detection and response security policies. Fortinet FortiGate multi-threat security appliances are scalable, comprehensive network and content protection platforms that integrate eight essential security applications and services, including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, anti-spyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping.

“Defending the enterprise network against threats such as virus attacks is a critical component to enabling a trusted network infrastructure,” said Paul Congdon, chief technology officer of ProCurve Networking by HP. “The pairing of ProCurve Network Immunity Manager with Fortinet’s FortiGate platform fits very well with ProCurve’s ProActive Defense Security strategy and we are looking forward to a strong collaboration.”
