The snow isn’t falling yet, but Vancouver-based startup accelerator GrowLab has announced the five companies selected to take part in its Winter 2012 cohort and benefit from GrowLab’s assistance in advancing their company’s path toward commercial success.
The five companies selected have already moved into GrowLab’s space for the four month program, which officially begins next Monday. The program includes office space, mentorship, $25,000 in seed funding and the opportunity to secure $150,000 in follow-on funding from BDC Venture Capital. Graduation includes an invite-only Demo Day where the companies pitch to select angel investors, industry professionals and mentors.

It was not easy to select just five companies.” said Mike Edwards, GrowLab’s executive director. “Startups, both locally and internationally, now see that GrowLab is a game changer. Our founders are committed to adding value and are invested in the success of these companies.”

The five companies in GrowLab’s Winter Cohort are:
ePact: An emergency network that leverages the power of online networking to connect organizations and individuals, share information and communicate before, during and after crises.
Good Momming: Provides personalized baby feeding and growth recommendations to new parents. Recommendations are personalized, accessible via mobile and available in real time.
KarmaHire: A cloud recruitment suite for the world’s fastest growing companies to source, screen and hire better talent.
Procurify: A spend management solution for organizations of all sizes. It’s an online software that is easy-to-use, secure and cost effective.
SpaceList: Helps users find office, retail or warehouse space by bringing all of Canada’s commercial real estate listings together in one place.
