EDI-integrated accounting

GXS, a provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, is offering GXS Accounting Package Accelerators, out-of-the-box services that let small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) integrate e-commerce transactions with many of today’s more popular accounting software packages.Using this hosted solution, businesses’ electronic data interchange (EDI)-based transactions are automatically entered into their accounting systems. GXS Accounting Package Accelerators contain pre-built maps to the GXS Trading Grid that adhere to enterprise EDI requirements, allowing SMBs to trade efficiently with global partners without having to purchase more technology or undertake additional programming activities.

Doubly driven
Now available in external USB 2.0 and internal ATAPI models, the Iomega REV 70GB Backup Drive offers a rugged and removable, 2.5-inch 70GB REV disk that doubles the capacity of its first-generation (REV 35GB) products. Designed for small and medium-sized businesses, REV 70GB Backup Drives also offer backward read and write compatibility with REV 35GB disks. Iomega’s REV 70GB disks can store as much as 140GB of data with compression using standard backup software. EMC’s Retrospect Express software ships with all desktop REV drives for automatic backup and disaster recovery, while REV server solutions come with CA’s BrightStor ArcServe Backup software. The REV 70GB Backup Drives feature transfer rates of 30 MB/sec. (max), versus 25 MB/sec for first-generation REV 35GB products.

Linksys-N SMBs
Linksys has a new lineup of Wireless-N products in its Small Business Series: the Wireless-N Access Point (WAP4400N), Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router with VPN (WRVS4400N) and Wireless-N CardBus Adapter (WPC4400N). According to Linksys, they are the first Wireless-N products based on the 802.11n draft specification to be developed specifically for the small business environment. The products are designed to deliver the capacity for small businesses to wirelessly share data, use applications, access the Internet, and make Internet phone calls — all potentially at the same time — at speeds greater than 10/100 Ethernet. Linksys products are designed to support all security encryption standards including WEP, WPA and WPA2.

What’s your function?
Ricoh Corp., a provider of digital office equipment, has added multifunction products that incorporate copy, scan, print and document storage capabilities as well as advanced security features. The Ricoh Aficio MP 5500, Aficio MP 6500 and Aficio MP 7500 Series Digital Imaging Systems, are designed for mid- to high-volume environments. With print speeds of 55 pages per minute, 65 ppm and 75 ppm, respectively, the units each incorporate an easy-to-read display panel with larger, brighter type that allows job parameters to be quickly selected. Shortcut buttons cut through the standard menu pages, and information is safeguarded at every point in the printing, transmission and distribution process. Latent images on the internal hard drive are removed through the optional DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS), while confidential information can be safeguarded with the Unauthorized Copy Control feature.
