Digi-Watcher.com delivers video surveillance and broadcasting solution

Digi-Watcher.com announces Watcher 2.32
Digi-Watcher.com announces the release of Watcher 2.32, a Windows program that works with a webcam not only to provide security for home and business, but also to provide video broadcasting capability.

Watcher combines both surveillance and broadcasting capabilities into one single software; Watcher is able to log true video/audio events (not just jpeg files) from beginning to end upon motion detection; Watcher can stream real time video to RemoteView, a free add-on from Digi-Watcher.com, to facilitate remote video surveillance using Internet connection or modems; Watcher can run in stealth mode or as an NT service.

Watcher uses an advanced motion detection algorithm to perform monitoring job. Upon motion detection, Watcher logs the event into video files and triggers a series of configurable alerts: e-mail, ftp upload or phone alert. The logged video files can even be remotely accessed with preview images. Watcher’s broadcasting function can be performed simultaneously with motion monitoring, so while doing motion detection, Watcher can also continuously upload the images captured from camera onto the Internet.

In addition, Watcher can be configured as a multi-cam solution. The ability to support both VfW and DirectShow technologies means Watcher can work with a wide range of webcams and video capture cards.

Watcher will run on a PC with a webcam or an analog camera with capture card and the following operating systems: Windows 98, Me, NT4, 2000 or XP. The program requires 32MB of RAM.

Watcher 2.32 is available now from http://www.digi-watcher.com. The price is US$39.00.

HP introduces HP-UX operating system and integrity servers
HP has broadened the functionality and simplified the deployment of its virtualization capabilities for HP-UX 11i.

  • Deployments of virtualized environments are simpler due to the addition of four VSE Reference Architectures, including ones for Oracle, SAP software and shared services based on HP’s own application server and database implementations
  • Mainframe-class availability has been enhanced via HP Serviceguard clustering enhancements.

As with every HP-UX release, existing customers’ investments in the HP-UX 11i operating system are protected through binary compatibility. This means applications that ran on the previous release will run unchanged on HP-UX 11i v3 but have the added benefit of running an average of 30 per cent faster.

The HP Integrity BL860c Server Blade brings the blade advantages of power efficiency, consolidation and flexibility to Integrity server customers, while expanding the workload capabilities and choices for HP blade customers. In addition, the Integrity BL860c shares the same BladeSystem c7000 enclosure with other HP ProLiant and HP StorageWorks blades.

The HP Integrity rx2660 entry-class server handles robust application tier workloads and is versatile enough for porting, application serving, testing and development.

A base configuration of the HP Integrity BL860c Server Blade has a starting U.S. list price of US$3,827 and is expected to begin shipping in March. A base configuration of the HP Integrity rx2660 entry-class server has a starting U.S. list price of US$4,931 and is shipping now. HP has lowered prices for HP-UX 11i and much of its supporting software. The HP-UX 11i v3 operating system is shipping now.
