Crowdfunding campaign kicks off in Waterloo Tuesday

WATERLOO, ON. — A major crowdfunding campaign to raise $100,000 in support of Startup Canada Connect will kick off here Tuesday

Startup Canada Connect will be an online hub and meeting place for Canadian entrepreneurs seeking to leverage local and national startup communities for support, resources, opportunities, associations, communities, news, events and mentors. The group is aiming to launch the community in May 2013.

The online meeting place was a key finding and action item that came out of Startup Canada’s Startup Blueprints, which outlined the key findings from its 2012 national tour. The group will use Indiegogo for the crowdfunding campaign.

The launch event will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4th at the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo. Among those on hand will be Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran, Start-up Canada co-founder Victoria Lennox and Hyperdrive managing director Doug Cooper.
