Canadian company becomes world’s largest Oracle ecommerce platform provider

Toronto-based Tenzing has become the world’s largest provider of Oracle Commerce solutions.

The milestone is the result of a February merger between Tenzing, Thinkwrap Commerce, and Spark::red, creating a global commerce and information management services giant that will offer end-to-end ecommerce solutions across the country, as well as a broad array of other products and services to help enterprise retailers and merchants in their digital transformation journey.

Tenzing CEO Bill Di Nardo called the merger a “landmark day” for the three companies in a Feb. 13 press release.

“This merger brings together some of the most experienced ecommerce minds in North America and puts them into one room for the benefit of our customers and the marketplace as a whole,” he added. “The pace of change in retail and commerce is staggering, and only accelerating. This business combination will enable us to invest in the types of innovation our customers expect and need to keep up with that rate of change.”

Oracle Commerce is a software-as-a-service platform for retail and B2B companies that enables rapid deployment of ecommerce applications. The platform provides personalized ecommerce options at a rate it calls quick enough to keep up with market changes.

Thinkwrap is an Ottawa-based company that offered strategy, design, software development, and integration services to enterprise ecommerce companies across the globe, boasting clients like Aldo and Simons. The Washington-based Spark::red provided high-end managed hosting for Oracle’s Commerce platform for customers including Michael Kors and Vera Bradley. The merger closed at the end of February 2018.

Spark::red co-founder Russell Moore said the merger allows the companies to expand their expertise, especially into public cloud, while Steve Byrne, CEO of Thinkwrap, adds that they are now in a position to innovate quickly and establish themselves as a leading provider of ecommerce apps and services.
