Calgary’s Userful helps ViewSonic customers stitch together video walls

ViewSonic’s new digital signs have image resolution that rivals real life, but they are easier to install than before thanks to a partnership with Userful, a Calgary-based company that develops display software.

At the Digital Signage Expo this week in Las Vegas, ViewSonic showed its new 98-inch 4K large format display, which is suited for showing media and information in public venues, retail stores, and transportation hubs. But as impressive as the screen it, the software stitching together multiple displays is also noteworthy.

Userful’s video wall software will be available in two varieties for ViewSonic customers – one that lets customers easily merge multiple monitors into a video wall (MSRP $599), and one that lets the customer produce a variety of artistic effects across multiple monitors (MSRP $999).

In an update to its software earlier this year, Userful’s software began supporting 6k resolution source content, and video walls with up to 60 displays. It partnered with ViewSonic to create the first video wall deployment solution to deliver 6K content in real time over a standard Ethernet network.

“The video wall market has been expanding rapidly, but high-end video walls are still expensive, and not many people can afford them,” Userful founder and CTO Tim Griffin said in a statement. “With this solution, every AV professional and system integrator will be able to offer a high-end video wall solution without blowing their budgets.”

ViewSonic also partnered with BestWave this week to provide its digital signage software which is aimed at making it easy for anyone to manage any number of signs.
