Builders and VisionariesTop 20 Channel ExecutivesDoug Cooper

The face of Intel in Canada for the last 11 years, Doug Cooper believes one of the major milestones in his career is the twice-yearly channel media briefing he and senior staff began.

“It’s a great opportunity to highlight the issues Intel and the channel feel are important,” he said. Intel has had a huge impact on the channel and system builder community over the past 20 years, he said, by providing technical support and training for resellers.

Cooper’s team also helped launch the Verified by Intel whitebook initiative here, and worked with Microsoft to simplify the deployment of SMB solutions through the channel. Cooper also plays match-maker between channel and industry players on discounts and unique offers.

“Thirty per cent of the total available market is sold through resellers and system builders,” he said. “We know that our channel customers have choices and we want to ensure they are getting the greatest value possible out of selling Intel-based solutions.”

He said that while most of the channel is not there quite yet, many recognize the importance of integrating complex business solutions. “Servers and networking are important elements of the overall IT solution that keep a business running and offer opportunity for the channel to improve their margins,” he said. In the future, client management will represent additional revenues, he added.
