BlackBerry Music Gateway to enable NFC streaming

Research in Motion (RIM) has revealed its audio streaming BlackBerry Music Gateway.

The small near-field communication (NFC) enabled gadget allows users to wirelessly stream music to a hi-fi, car stereo or other audio sources. The BlackBerry Music Gateway will be available in June with a US price of $49.

RIM said: “The new BlackBerry Music Gateway lets you wirelessly play music to your home or car stereo from your BlackBerry smartphone, BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or any Bluetooth enabled device.”

“Once connected to the BlackBerry Music Gateway, customers are able to control their music from up to 30 feet away from the stereo, without missing a single beat.”

The BlackBerry Music Gateway plugs into to any sound equipment via a 3.5mm audio jack. Tapping an NFC capable BlackBerry on the device automatically connects it for streaming. Any handset paired with the Music Gateway can be used as a remote control for the stereo.

Furthermore, other apps can be used at the same time and the music will automatically pause for the duration of a phone call.
