Avaya launches new Ethernet switch series for SMBs

Avaya Inc. has unveiled a new line of Ethernet switches for the small- to mid-sized business sector, the Basking Ridge, N.J.-based unified communications firm announced today.

The Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 3500 series features six compact Ethernet switches available in both 10 and 24 port configurations, and offering 10/100 mbps speeds or 10/100/1000 mbps speeds (gigabit). The series also features switches that support Power over Ethernet – a method to provide electricity along with data to network devices such as wireless access points and video surveillance cameras.

Avaya’s new line of Ethernet switches are pitched at SMBs.

The 24-port models in the 3500 series support Avaya’s Stackable Chassis Architecture, which will be enabled by a future software release. That will allow users to stack up to eight units to expand their network and offer more bandwidth.

The new switches can be managed remotely from off-site IT service providers and are designed for plug-and-play functionality. The series can automatically be set up with Avaya IP Office software to use features like messaging on mobile devices, video conferencing, and presence status.

Here are the products included in the new 3500 series, as described by Avaya:
