Acer Inc. is the latest manufacturer to unveil a hybrid tablet/laptop built for the release of Windows 8 later this month, with the Iconia W510 Tablet PC announced today.
Carrying on the name brand that Acer has been using for its Android-based tablet, the W510 models will be running on Microsoft’s new touch-friendly operating system and pack some different hardware specs. The 10.1-inch tablet can dock with an optional keyboard attachment on a swivel that rotates 295 degrees – so it can double as a stand that supports the tablet from behind.

The Iconia W510 will come in four different packages – two with the tablet only, and two with the keyboard dock included. Acer’s built the tablet with an Intel Atom processor that runs at 1.5 Ghz, 2 GB of 800 MHz memory, a rear-facing 8 MP Web cam and front-facing 2 MP Web cam. The ports on offer include micro-HDMI, micro-SD card reader, micro-USB 2.0 on the tablet and full USB 2.0 on the keyboard dock.

The starting price of $499.99 will get you 32 GB of SSD storage and $599.99 for 64 GB. The keyboard dock model starts at $749.99 retail. The tablets will be available in Canada Nov. 9.
