5 Pinterest tips for business success

Pinterest for business

Facebook is where I go to when I want to check up on friends. I log on to Twitter when I want to know what people are doing right now. When I want to see breathtaking images, mouthwatering dishes and look up my dream holiday destinations, I head over to Pinterest.

From a business standpoint, what makes Pinterest such a good network for marketers is that it is very visual in nature. Another interesting fact about Pinterest for businesses is that users on this network are 10 per cent more likely to buy something compared to other social networks. Due to all those reasons we have come up with 5 solid tips for you to get started and excel on this social network.

1. Group boards

Pins are similar to making posts on Facebook and boards are a collection of pins. Another popular feature on Pinterest is where several people manage and contribute to a single board. These are called group boards. Group boards are a good way to reach new audiences who are interested in a particular theme. It is not very easy to find them on Pinterest since the platform does not have a direct link or search ability for group boards.

That is why we had to dig a little to find a tool which makes it easy to find Pinterest group boards. It’s called Pingroupie and it’s free to use.

Once there, simply fill in the category, title, description and hit the search button. You also have the option to sort groups by followers, repins and likes. I suggest ordering by repins since that would order the group boards by popularity.

2. Scoop your competitor’s followers

If you haven’t done so yet, make a list of your competitors and find them on Pinterest. Then head over to this tool called Pinalerts. It is similar to Google alerts with the difference being, it will send you an alert when someone pins one of your competitors website. If they have a reasonably good following and seem to be interested in your industry’s content, start following them. Chances are they will begin following you and engage with your content too.

3. Text content matters

Even though Pinterest is a highly visual platform, text still plays an important role. Users navigate through Pinterest by typing keywords into the search bar to find pins that they like. Keep your customers in mind and create content that they can easily find. Think about the keywords that they would use in order to get to your products and blend those words into your pin title and descriptions.

Remember to rename your pictures videos with keywords because every little effort counts. So if your business is food related, don’t just name your board food. Add other words such as recipe, tasty, dinner etc.

4. Rich Pins

If you have products or offer services, make sure you add a price tag to your products. That will help increase interest and revenue. Besides that, set up your website for rich pins. This will help display your pins in a much more attractive manner with an icon and website name.

Once you’ve done that, validate it using this validation tool from Pinterest. After that wait for a few day to get your pins approved and then you are set to make your content stand out in the Pinterest crowd.

5. Engage with other users

Pinterest sends notifications every time someone repins, likes or comments on your pins. Keep an eye out on those and engage with the people who show interest in your brand. Build and nurture relationships which can translate into increased revenue and loyal following for your brand.

Also, ensure that the frequency at which you post pins is consistent and spread out. If you post too many pins within a short frame of time, it may irk your followers and lead them to unfollow you. At the same time, posting less may reduce the impact of your campaign. Create a posting schedule and follow it to take your Pinterest following to the next level.
Happy pinning!
