Office relics, almost every office has one. No, I don’t mean your boss. But somewhere you must have tucked away a dot matrix printer, or a Pentium II desktop, a cheque numbering machine, maybe even a typewriter or a rotary phone.
These gadgets of yesteryears are always fun to have around. Rather than discard them as e-waste that will choke out landfills, these machines are kept as conversation pieces, vestiges of a long gone era and even markers of career and business milestones. They can also be worth $500 at least.
There’s still some time to catch Grand and Toy’s Office Relic Search contest on Facebook.
Each week until Jan. 29 the office supply dealer is giving away a $500 credit to the lucky sender of a photo of any old office equipment. The contest is especially meant for small businesses and their employees, according to Gaurav Sharma, senior director, small business and brand marketing, at Grand and Toy.
“This is not about buying or selling products on Facebook. It is about connecting with our community in social media and having fun,” Sharma said.
Grand and Toy says they want to eventually find the most out dated office equipment in Canada and replace it with a modern alternative. You can send photos of chairs, desks, lamps computers – if it’s old Grand and Toy wants to see it.
