Dell has expanded its portfolio of premium Android tablets with the launch of a new tablet with a razor-thin profile – the Venue 10 7000.

“Dell customers want more from their tablets. They want to be productive and get work done wherever they are, they want a great entertainment experience, and they want to carry something that turns heads,” said Neil Hand, vice-president of Dell’s tablet group, in a statement. “The Venue 10 7000 gives our customers all that and more: enhanced productivity with a full-sized keyboard and Android for Work, brilliant display and innovative features like the Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera, all wrapped in a gorgeous design.”

With a sleek design featuring a barrel edge for easier carrying, the Venue 10 7000 and its magnetic, backlit keyboard can be used in tablet, slate, stand, tent or clamshell modes. The MaxxAudio Mobile by Waves and front-firing stereo speakers offer an immersive audio experience for content displayed on a 10.5” OLED 2560×1600 screen.

Powering the tablet on the inside is a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The Intel RealSense snapshot depth camera takes a depth map for every picture captured and the Dell Gallery application includes tools for selective re-focusing and measurement function. For business customers, Dell Mobile Management and Dell Mobile Workspace solutions are supported for device management.

Lollipop and Android for Work

The Venue 10 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop and is enabled for Android for Work. This solution allows business and personal information to coexist securely on one device, so it can be used for both work and play. With business data separated and encrypted, corporate data isn’t accessible to personal applications, and the business can’t access a user’s personal data. A profile can be managed by IT, provisioned with a set of secure applications, and wiped by IT remotely if necessary without impacting the personal data. Office for Android will be available for the Venue 10 this summer for improved user productivity.

The Venue 10 7000 will be available in Canada on May 15, and will be priced starting at $599.
