VoIP for business

The Bell Canada Personal Communication Manager (PCM) solution, released by Bell Canada, Nortel and NewHeights Software, is a PC-based soft-client that features voice, messaging and multimedia communications.It can be used in the office or while working remotely, allowing users to communicate and collaborate between colleagues, work groups or with external customers. Users can undock their laptops and carry the same telephone and messaging services and profile that they use at their corporate desktop. The Bell Canada PCM also lets users initiate calls and multiparty conferences with point-and-click, know the telephony and messaging status of their colleagues with real-time presence and availability information, and access over 250-features all through a PC interface.

All-in-one, for the little guy
Lexmark Canada Inc.‘s X340 monochrome laser all-in-one (AIO) printer series, catering to small workgroups, features printing, copying, faxing and scanning through one networked device that can be shared by multiple users. The X340 series offers print speeds up to 27 pages per minute and includes two models, the Lexmark X340n, supported by a 2,500-page toner cartridge, and for higher print volumes, the Lexmark X342n, which can also accommodate a high-yield 6,000-page toner cartridge. The Lexmark X340 series includes PCL 6 emulation, 64MB of standard memory and a USB 2.0 port to process jobs. For fax features, a 33.6 KBs modem and 10 fax speed dials are built-in, as well as a 50-page automatic document feeder.

DocuSign In-Session Signing is a service designed to allow companies to integrate DocuSign directly into their existing web portals and e-commerce offerings. DocuSign In-Session Signing allows a customer to visit a Web site, complete a form and sign an application in one visit. The DocuSign On-demand Signing Service ensures proper security, user authentication and document non-repudiation. This new application can be used for consumer loan applications, credit card applications, insurance applications and claims and other online uses. DocuSign can be integrated into existing applications, as it is offered as an XML/SOAP Web service.

Mid-sized integration
SAP AG and IBM have announced an agreement to offer mid-sized enterprises better integration between mySAP All-in-One solutions and the upcoming version of DB2, code-named “Viper.” The new offering also includes a one-year special maintenance offering. Scheduled for release in mid-2006, DB2 Viper for mySAP All-in-One solutions is designed to help ease configuration, enhance performance and increase solution availability. SAP and IBM are offering one-year free maintenance of DB2 for new customers of mySAP All-in-One solutions who wish to run their SAP applications on the latest version of DB2.
