Video Rewind: How to recognize fake security software

Fake software and bogus antivirus tools are a multi-million dollar industry that continues to wreak havoc on consumers and businesses around the world.

Even Apple, which used to enjoy the reputation of having an operating system secure from hacking, had to update its malware engine to detect MacDefender a fake antivirus program that’s plagued Mac users.

Firefox users have also been targeted by new scam that tries to load a user’s PC with fake antivirus software using a passably convincing version of the Windows Update page.
