Video Rewind: Google on the cloud’s importance

Google unveiled its latest attempt at social networking last week, going head to head with Facebook for control of the Web’s social graph with Google+. Taking a step back and examining Google+, at its core it is about making it easier for Google’s users to put their content in the cloud.

The Google+ mobile app will automatically sync photos and videos taken with your smartphone and your Google+ account. From there, you can slide your media into your different “Circles” of friends to share it.

Matthew Glotzbach, product management director for Google Inc. spoke about how the search giant views cloud computing as “the next generation of technology” that will impact consumer and corporate IT. He presented this in January 2009.
