Video Rewind: David Suzuki gets fired up about green IT

David Suzuki is a name synonymous with environmentalism and sustainability for Canadians. So it’s no surprise that he’s turned his attention to the IT industry during the last couple of years.

It’s been estimated that the global IT industry puts as much carbon dioxide into the air as the air travel industry, at about two percent. As our workplaces and our homes become more wired and filled with more electronic gadgets, that will only increase.

In November 2009, Suzuki spoke with ITBusiness.ca about his employee action program, and responsible disposal of IT products. He gets pretty fired up in this video (we even had to bleep him)! But that just underlines his passion for the green movement.
