Spammers target aspiring mobile eavesdroppers

For cellular busy bodies the offer is simply too good to resist. A downloadable software tool which, once installed on a target cell phone, reports back to the app owner information on all calls and messages originating from the target phone.

Think of the possibilities for jealous lovers, gossiping eavesdroppers and industrial spies. Think twice warns security software vendor Symantec Corp. The mobile surveillance application is just one of the latest ruses being used by spammers to entice unwitting victims, according to the Cupertino, Calif-based companies State of Spam Report for August.
