Nortel announces release of Nortel Contact Recording and Nortel Quality Monitoring solutions
Nortel’s Nortel Contact Recording and Nortel Quality Monitoring suite, developed with Witness Systems, allows businesses to record and monitor customer interactions so that more information can be captured for each customer.

The products can be deployed independently or with the Nortel Contact Center solution and provide recording and archiving of all contacts to help customers with regulatory compliance.

The Nortel Contact Recording and Nortel Quality Monitoring suite protects customers’ existing investments by capturing interactions in either IP or traditional telephony environments. The suite is also controlled and administered through a single user interface across an entire enterprise.

BlueCat Networks unveils network appliances
BlueCat Networks announced the latest release of its Proteus and Adonis appliances. A number of features have been added to the Proteus Enterprise IPAM Appliance, including built-in external authenticator tests, improved zone templates for increased automation and time savings and advanced support for VoIP, with integrated Electronic Numbering (ENUM) and vendor client classes.

Launched in April this year, Proteus is an Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM) solution with a multi-core architecture. With the new features, Proteus improves an organization’s ability to centrally administer distributed IP networks.

Among the new features now included with Proteus are:

  • advanced support for VoIP ENUM
  • advanced report and audit functionality
  • Proteus high availability and disaster recovery
  • rapid parallel configuration deployment engine with scheduled deployment

BlueCat Networks’ Adonis line of DNS/DHCP network appliances now also supports security and performance features for complex IP control, particularly when paired with the Proteus Enterprise IPAM Appliance. The features built into this version of Adonis include direct integration with the Mirage family of post-admission network access control (NAC) appliances, RADIUS authentication security enhancements and advanced VoIP functionality with built-in ENUM and TFTP.

Adonis’ advanced VoIP functionality further simplifies the management and deployment of complex VoIP and unified messaging environments.

Proteus, which combines a powerful design and deployment environment with monitoring and reporting tools, leverages the strengths of BlueCat Networks’ Adonis appliance. Providing global IP inventory management, Proteus users can control DNS, DHCP and IP inventories from any location in the world. In addition to supporting hundreds of concurrent administrators from a single appliance, Proteus can also track all configuration changes and resolve problematic scenarios.

Fujitsu introduces 2.5-in hard disk drives offering perpendicular magnetic recording
Fujitsu Canada Inc. announced two additions to its mobile hard disk drive (HDD) family: the MHW2160BH series, a 160GB, 2.5-in. Serial ATA (SATA) model featuring perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology and the MHW2080AT series, an up to 80GB Parallel ATA (PATA) hard disk drive. The 160GB SATA product was developed to address customer demand for increased storage capacity, while the 80GB hard disk drive was designed for the consumer electronics (CE) and external USB storage markets.

With up to 160GB capacity and 5400RPM, the new Fujitsu MHW2160BH series is designed for fast, high-capacity notebook computers. Developed using PMR technology, the mobile SATA hard disk drives achieve 80GB of storage per platter. The MHV2160BH hard disk drives will begin shipping by the fourth quarter of this year.

The Fujitsu MHW2080AT series of hard disk drives are geared toward non-IT applications whose products have a longer life cycle. Featuring up to 80GB capacity in a single platter as well as low power consumption, the mobile HDDs also demonstrate reduced acoustic noise, according to Fujitsu. Scheduled to ship next quarter, the MHW2080AT series of hard disk drives are ideal for CE applications such as audio, external USB storage solutions and other industrial applications.
