New mobile tools added to contracting application

Business software vendor Sage North America has released new mobile time collection and project file capabilities for Sage Construction Anywhere, its cloud-based collaborative solution for the constriction industry.

Sage Construction Anywhere integrates with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate to provide construction professionals with access to project information. It will also soon integrate with Sage 100 Contractor.

While the initial release allowed users to access project reports at anytime on a mobile device or PC, Sage said the new release addresses a key area of process improvement for many contractors – automating the collection and approval of employee time worked in the field.

“One of the most common areas of opportunity for a construction company to strengthen a project’s financial performance is to improve its visibility into labor costs and potential profitability threats earlier in the project,” said Jon Witty, vice-president and general manager of Sage Construction and Real Estate, in a statement. “Making it simple for employees to provide employee timecard information in the field using phones and tablets better positions a company to collect necessary labor information sooner so they can course-correct faster.”

With the new time capabilities, users can use an iPhone app (coming soon to Android) to submit employee time worked on a project. Submitted time can be reviewed and approved using the mobile app or online within Sage Construction Anywhere, and once approved, the information flows into Sage’s Payroll and Job Cost tools to provide an overview of labor costs on the job.

Also new is a Project Files capability that allows project teams to share and retrieve project documents, drawings and photos from one central location.
