Sweets Expo delivers in ways that won’t stress your health, your waistline or your wallet

(Toronto, Ontario– March 2, 2006) – The most highly anticipated consumer candy shows might not be the venue you’d expect to learn about health and nutrition but that’s exactly what participants should expect at this year’s Sweets Expo.

Besides being a celebration for all things sweet, the confection show which attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors is throwing a new twist on things this May by adding seminars that focus on health and nutrition.

Learn what sweets are acceptable for hypoglycemics and diabetics, become skilled at how to read food labels effectively and finally gain an understanding of the growing organic sweets industry.

Irene Wells of Wellness Wizards will present an interactive seminar called Sweet Solutions for hypoglycemics and diabetics.  The 45-minute workshop will provide information for those interested in menu planning. Her seminar is packed with information for those who have been advised to kick the sugar habit. Irene will show participants how to incorporate nutritious and satisfying lifestyle and dietary programs.

For those of us who enjoy reading while we eat, how about a seminar on how to decipher food labels.  The accurate reading of food labels helps consumers make better informed buying decisions. Learn to decipher label information on candy.  The federal legislation governing confectionary products will be covered in this seminar.

If you’re an organic chocolate lover, here’s your chance to hear firsthand from one of Canada’s most well-respected organic inspecting consultants.   Kelly Monaghan from Ash Street Enterprises will share her insights into the organic chocolate and confectionary sector.  As a consultant, she has held several senior management positions in the organic industry while living in the United States and Europe.
