Igloo Software’s secure digital communication platform now healthcare-enabled

The healthcare industry can now go digital in a more secure way with digital workplace solutions provider Igloo Software.

The Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont.-based company has announced that its secure information and communications infrastructure is now HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996)-enabled, which will allow healthcare organizations to use the platform within their digital workplaces without worrying about safety or privacy concerns.

Igloo is a cloud-based, software-as-a-service intranet solution that will “foster collaboration within healthcare communities of practice, providing open and private spaces for providers to communicate and publish knowledge,” according to a company press release from Feb. 16.

“Supporting the unique needs of the healthcare sector is a major area of focus for Igloo, and ensuring our customers are confident in the security of our solutions is a priority,” Dan Latendre, CEO of Igloo, adds in the release. “Healthcare providers can now communicate and collaborate within their HIPAA-governed digital workplace powered by Igloo knowing that protected health information (PHI) is secure.”

The company’s platform offers features such as push notifications, calendar integration, a searchable directory of all staff, file sharing and the ability to create private groups and chats within the overall common space.

Igloo is hoping its infrastructure will result in more responsive, scalable, and mobile organizations “with a refined focus on delivering improved patient outcomes” and making it easier for health leaders to engage with practitioners and corporate staff.

“Our patients, our community, and our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and Igloo provides us with a central destination for communication and collaboration,” Kelly Atlee, director of public relations for Foundation Health Partners, says in the release. “Igloo’s responsive and flexible design delivers personalized content for improved patient engagement, a paramount focus in a market where patients are increasingly becoming consumers.”

All Igloo employees are HIPAA security trained, and its corporate offices operate by HIPAA standards so healthcare delivery organizations can “be confident that patient information is always safe and private.”
