Cisco introduces Cisco Smart Business Communications System for SMB
Cisco introduced the Cisco Smart Business Communications System for small businesses.

The Smart Business Communications System employs hardware products, integrated unified communications applications and system-management tools. The system includes the following products:

  • Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series
  • Cisco Catalyst Express 520
  • Cisco Mobility Express Solution
  • Cisco Configuration Assistant
  • Cisco Monitor Director

The Cisco Smart Business Communications System integrates with existing desktop applications such as calendaring, e-mail, customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Cisco Smart Business Communications System is scheduled to be available to partners through standard Cisco worldwide channels in June 2007. The U.S. list price for the system will start at US$699 per seat, which includes the network with complete Cisco Unified Communications system capabilities and a Cisco Unified IP Phone. The U.S. list price for the Cisco Catalyst Express 520 is US$1395. The U.S. list price of the Cisco 521 Wireless Express Access Point is US$499 and the U.S. list price for the Cisco 526 Wireless Express Mobility Controller is US$1799. The U.S. list price for the Cisco Monitor Director and Cisco Monitor Manager limited startup package is US$2,900. Cisco Configuration Assistant will be available at no cost. Fluke announces the release of Visual UpTime Select 2.5

Fluke Networks Canada announced the release of Visual UpTime Select 2.5. This version of Visual UpTime offers several capabilities, including the ability to monitor call quality on a segment-by-segment basis and presentation of data through a collection of flexible reports.

Visual UpTime is a comprehensive system for enabling the delivery of enterprise applications, including VoIP. When used with Analysis Service Elements (ASEs), Visual UpTime can gather data on every segment of a VoIP call, providing unprecedented detail on call quality. 

Another feature of Visual UpTime is Business Class Reporting, a collection of 75 flexible reports which can be adapted by the user to show a range of information from executive dashboard overviews to single-call troubleshooting details.  UpTime reporting offers editable grouping, scheduling and delivery options, all available from the Web Client. 

Fluke Networks Visual UpTime 2.5 is available for immediate delivery from Fluke Networks’ sales partners worldwide.

Rider 8 releases ProxFind 1.1
Rider 8 Software has released ProxFind 1.1 for Windows, a text search utility for use by professionals who draft documents that are customized.

ProxFind allows a user to search one or more documents for:

  • Specified text
  • Specified text within a specified number of characters of other specified text
  • A specified word within a specified number of words of another specified word

ProxFind searches Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx), Rich Text Format (.rtf), Text (.txt) and HTML (.htm) documents.  ProxFind operates independently of other applications (including Microsoft Word).

When ProxFind finds text meeting the specified search parameters, ProxFind displays selections from the relevant document, with the search text highlighted. ProxFind also displays a list of the displayed selections, together with the location of the selection within the document where the selection was found.

The user may:

  • Select and copy any or all of the selections or any part of a selection
  • Print all of the selections or any selection
  • Save all of the selections as a Rich Text Format document (.rtf) or Adobe Portable Document Format document (.pdf)
  • If the user has the appropriate version of Microsoft Word installed on his or her computer, ProxFind will open the search document and automatically navigate to any chosen selection.

ProxFind is free to try for 15 days and may be downloaded at www.rider8.com or at www.download.com. The purchase price is US$19.95. ProxFind is Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), XP and Vista compatible. ProxFind does not require installation of the NET Framework.

BEA launches availability WebLogic Server 10 in support of SOA

BEA Systems, Inc. announced the general availability of WebLogic Server 10, a release of the application server based on the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 5.

BEA Weblogic Server runs on HP Integrity servers with HP-UX 11i v3. Additionally, HP Integrity servers running HP-UX, Windows and Linux hold Tier 1 status with BEA, meaning that all versions of WebLogic Server support the servers out-of-the box.
