BBM Meetings supports HD video chat with 25 participants

Waterloo, Ont.-based BlackBerry launched its new collaboration app for BlackBerrys – and other mobile platforms – today on Thursday with BBM Meetings.

What does it do? Well, as you might expect it turns a BBM chat or voice call into a meeting. The functionality is focused around presenting a document that’s on your screen – whether it’s a mobile device or a desktop. It also incorporates HD video and audio conferencing for up to 25 participants. Each user can choose to either view the speaker, or swipe through a gallery of attendees.

  • Chatting between presentation attendees with private messages, or messages between the whole group.
  • Dial-in phone number for the presentation audio when data connection is not available.
  • Manage the meeting on a mobile device with options to pass hosting, mute noisy lines, kick attendees or lock meetings.

BBM Meetings will be  a subscription service priced at $12.50 USD per host per month. The subscription will also include BlackBerry Technical Support Services. The app is available for download on Windows, Google Play and BlackBerry World, and is coming soon to iOS.

BlackBerry is offering a free 30-day trial for the software.
