Subscribers to QuickBooks Online, Intuit’s cloud-based bookkeeping software for small businesses, will now have an app for that as well.
Intuit said this week that it has launched an iPhone and iPad app that will be available free to QuickBooks Online subscribers. QuickBooks Online Mobile is available for download now from Apple’s App Store, and will allow users to use their portable devices to create, edit and send invoices, view and edit customer information, track sales receipts and e-mail them to clients, and record which invoices to apply payments to.
“QuickBooks Online Mobile is ideal for entrepreneurs on the go because it allows them to tap into key data 24/7,” said Shane Hamby, senior product manager at Intuit, in a statement. “It empowers entrepreneurs to stay plugged into their customers and clients, so that they never miss a beat.”
The new mobile app may help Intuit grow its SMB customer base. According to a survey released by the vendor this summer, only 43 per cent of SMBs are using some kind of on premise or online solution to track income and expenses. It was up from 37 per cent five years earlier, but there’s still a long ways to go in moving businesses away from paper, never mind onto a tablet.
