Enter ‘The $1,000 Minute’ contest for Canadian tech startups

The entry period for The $1,000 Minute has come to a close. Thank you for your interest in the contest, and especially all those who entered.

We saw more than 30 videos submitted from tech startups across Canada. Everything from interactive motion projection systems to Facebook apps, to Web site services.

We invite you to view the elevator pitches at the link below. Let us know which one is your favourite. We’ll be announcing the winner soon.

Complete and official contest rules

1. No purchase necessary. Contest is open to startup businesses in Canada, excluding Quebec. Contest entrants must be at least 18 years of age and operate a Canadian business.

2. Contest begins Nov. 7, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. ET and end Dec. 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Entrants must both complete the registration form and upload a YouTube video not exceeding 60 seconds as a video response to The $1,000 Minute video on the ITBusiness.ca channel.

3. Grand prize: The prize is $1,000 Canadian. To be payable to a contest winner as deemed fit by the staff of ITBusiness.ca and IT Word Canada.

4. Restrictions: Each entrant is eligible for just one entry. ITBusiness.ca is not responsible for any inaccuracies in information which may be used in the Contest, or for any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of entries, including data entered by contestants. ITBusiness.ca is not responsible for any failure of any electronic equipment, computer transmissions and/or network connections. ITBusiness.ca reserves the right to end the contest at any time, without notice, and only entries received prior to that time will be considered.

5. Awarding of prize: Winners will be notified by ITBusiness.ca in a timely manner after the end of the contest and judging period. ITBusiness.ca reserves the right to conduct due diligence to ensure the eligibility of the startup business entering the contest and deny the prize if it is found the contest entry is deemed ineligible. By participating, a winner grants ITBusiness.ca and IT World Canada to use the winner’s name, likeness, picture, portrait, hometown, voice, biographical information and written submissions and written or oral statements, for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless required by law.

6. Entries submitted to The $1,000 Minute contest become the property of ITBusiness.ca and IT World Canada and will not be acknowledged or returned.

7. ITBusiness.ca reserves the right in their sole discretion to modify or cancel all or any portions of the Contest because of technical errors or malfunctions, viruses, hackers, or for other reasons that corrupt the Contest in any manner. Sponsors also reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entrant who fails to comply with these Official Rules, who attempts to enter the Contest in any manner or through any means other than as described in these Official Rules, or who attempts to disrupt the Contest or to circumvent any of these Official Rules.

8. ITBusiness.ca will inform all contest entrants of the winner selected by making a posting to ITBusiness.ca, and updating this article.
