Video: Momentum gaining for IT as a utility model

Las Vegas – Could the era of the IT as a utility model finally be coming? According to Metafore, momentum for the concept is continuing to grow.

In an interview at Hewlett Packard Co.‘s (NYSE: HPQ) Americas Partner Conference last week, Metafore told CDN that its customers are increasingly asking it to make IT simpler. Not just the technology, but how they pay for it. Capital acquisition is one budget, operations and service another, often across different departments. Increasingly, Metafore said its customers are saying they’d like to just have one bill to pay for everything IT.

As HP sets out its competitive advantage of being the one vendor that can supply every piece of the connected IT experience, from end point devices to connectivity to the network and the data centre, Metafore sees the IT as a utility model as a natural extension that HP isn’t talking about yet, but should.

In this video, CDN speaks with David Kelly, Metafore’s vice-president and general manager for Central Canada, and Michel Lacasse, Metafore’s vice-president and general manager for Eastern Canada, discuss the opportunity.
