Creating your own digital digs a piece of cake, says HP

Digitally harmonizing work and entertainment, home and office, and the machines and media used in both environments is something a lot of folk dream about.

Turning those dreams of a digital Shangri-La into reality isn’t the prerogative of the wealthy or the nerdy, according to Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP).

Today, designing a smart home – or home-office if you will – is a project well within the reach of middling middleclass mortals – even those with minimal tech savvy, the company suggests.

And to spread that message, HP recently took journalists from across the world on a tour of its Smart Home in Cupertino, Calif.

Built in 2006, the HP Smart Home was presented as the “poster child” for a digital lifestyle that company executives say is accessible to ordinary folk.
