Peer 1 doubles channel team to support partner growth

Global web hosting company Peer 1 Hosting (TSX: PIX) has doubled the size of its channel team this year and has launched a new program designed to increase its portfolio of strategic alliance partners.

Peer 1 announced eCommerce platform provider Magento and enterprise cloud platform provider Tier 3 as new strategic alliance partners and examples of the kinds of partners the Vancouver-based hosting provider is looking to recruit.

“We’re looking for partners who can really leverage our infrastructure and some of our key offerings in the hosted and dedicated server space along with their own offerings to go to market and better serve customers together,” said Peer 1 global channel director Mike Mayer in an interview with CDN. “We have a lot of flexibility in how we work with our partners. We look at what each brings to the table, and how to marry our infrastructure with what they’re offering to deliver a best in class service.”

There’s not a straight check-list of what Peer 1 is looking for in a strategic alliance partner, said Mayer. And he added Peer 1 is growing its broader channel program and is looking for partners from enterprise-focused companies all the way down to those focused on the small and medium-sized business space.

“We’re a good medium-sized company and we have a willingness and core value of ‘anything is possible,’” said Mayer. “We’re willing to work with partners to find the right solutions to deliver to market. It doesn’t matter on size; I’m willing to work with the development shop of 20 folks right up to the large OEMs and software providers.”

Mayer added Peer 1 has doubled the size of its channel team this year to better support partners and find better ways to help them deliver value to customers.

“We know the time is right in the market for true hosting solutions,” said Mayer.
