Cisco, others see strong data center growth

Jim Duffy writes about the data centre market according to findings from Infonetics Research.
“In 2010, the worldwide data center equipment market – which Infonetics says includes data centre Ethernet switches, application delivery controllers and WAN optimization appliances – grew 50 per cent to almost $8 billion. Sales of purpose built data centre switches nearly doubled quarter-over-quarter in 2010, the firm states … The research firm expects some damping of sales in 2011 but still healthy growth as enterprises look for greener, more cost-effective products with improved price/performance and comprehensive management. North American enterprises plan to increase their data centre infrastructure spending by an average of 25 per cent in 2011, Infonetics found.”
Adobe plans give Creative Suite 5 mid-cycle mobile juice

Larry Dignan writes that Adobe will release Creative Suite 5 (CS 5.5) which will allow developers to code and push to multiple platforms.
“These mobile app publishing tools are already available in Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite. Adobe is merging features into CS 5. Adobe will also introduce subscription platform pricing for its suite to reach more cost conscious customers. That subscription pricing shows how Adobe’s model is changing since it acquired Omniture. In other words, software as a service is becoming a bigger part of the mix and recurring revenue is the theme going forward.”
