Microsoft on Windows Phone 7: “We’re in it for the long run”

Ed Bott reveals Microsoft’s vision for Windows Phone 7 according to Achim Berg, vice-president of business and marketing for Windows Phones at Microsoft.
“We introduced a new platform with Windows Phone 7, and when you do that it takes time to educate partners and consumers on what you’re delivering, and drive awareness and interest in your new offering. We’re comfortable with where we are, and we are here for the long run; Windows Phone 7 is just the beginning. Our opportunity is to make sure people get to play with a Windows Phone. Once they do, they love it. This is very important for us.”
Adobe records first billion-dollar quarter, bullish on outlook

Sam Diaz writes about Adobe Systems’ first-ever billion-dollar quarter.
“Adobe Systems said today that it recorded its first ever billion-dollar quarter, beating Wall Street’s estimates and forecasting a bullish outlook for its first quarter. For the fourth quarter, the company reported non-GAAP earnings of 56 cents per share, up from a 6 cents per share loss for the same quarter a year ago. Revenue for the fourth quarter was $1.01 billion, a 33 per cent jump over the $757.3 million reported a year ago.”
Fujitsu Lifebook T580 Tablet PC now on sale in North America

“It took awhile for Fujitsu’s Lifebook T580 to hit the US market, but at last, the 10.1-inch, three-pound Tablet PC has landed on this side of the Atlantic. The netvertible, if we can even call it that, is about double the price of the usual convertible netbook, and for good reason — the system eschews Atom for Core i3 / i5 processor options and also has an capacitive display with an N-trig digitizer, which can support both pen and finger input. The $1,149 “Express Buy” model packs a Core i3-380UM processor, 2GB of RAM, 160GB of storage, and a 5,800mAh six-cell battery, while going on up to the Core i5-560UM CPU adds an extra $250.”
