Edmonton-based IT solution provider, Acrodex, has won a seven-year contract valued at over $70 million with the Government of Alberta to provide centralized desktop management services to the government’s 24 ministries.
Acrodex, which is a past CDN Top 100 Solution Provider, will be responsible for helping the Alberta Government with consolidating and standardizing its desktop computer management services in its 24 ministries throughout the province.
John Abrahamson, director of sales and marketing at Acrodex, said that as part of the contract, the statement of work is composed of 20 major categories, including about 2,000 defined responsibilities and activities, which defines what Acrodex and the government will be in charge of.
Doug Johnson, Acrodex’s manager of marketing and communications, said there are two components to the seven-year contract. This includes centralized services with desktop management and distributed services in the form of worksite management. The objective with the agreement is to ensure all of the Government of Alberta’s employees can more easily communicate with each other, regardless of where they are located, he added.
Abrahamson said that currently the agreement with the Government of Alberta does not include the government’s provisioning of hardware and software solutions.
Therefore, Abrahamson says the government procures its solutions through its regular channels before it hands it over to Acrodex for preparation and other centralized services offerings.
A full deployment of Acrodex’s centralized desktop management services is to be completed over a seven-year period, using a phased approach. The centralized services went live last month with Service Alberta and will continue onto about a dozen of the government’s other ministries over the next 12 months. The majority of the rollout is set for completion by year three, Abrahamson said. The worksite management services component is slated to begin next month and will extend into June of this year.
Acrodex, which is currently a company of about 600 employees, has 50 staff members dedicated to the Service Alberta account, but the number of dedicated Acrodex staff to this account will grow over time as adoption increases, Abrahamson said.
