Asus announces ultra-thin Eee PC, laptops

John Morris provides some details here on Asus’ recently announced new Eee PCs including the U and UX notebook series.

“Like the Eee PC 1008HA, the U and UX series laptops are distinguished by a thin profile. Both models have a rubberized, illuminated chiclet keyboard, and the U series adds an illuminated touchpad. Both models also have an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the LED-backlit display. The U series has a 15.6-inch display, Core 2 Duo processors, Nvidia GeForce 105M graphics with 512MB and up to a 500GB hard drive. Both models will ship sometime in the second quarter.”

Sean Cooper provides some rumoured products coming out from HTC this year.

“The Firestone, a 3G set that replaces the Touch HD with a 3.6-inch WVGA display, an eight megapixel — HTC’s first — camera, runs Windows Mobile 6.5, and is slated to appear in August this year. Next, a slate-style set called Whitestone with the same display as the Firestone, a five megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6.1, and is apparently a dual-mode GSM / EV-DO number due to launch with Verizon in the September timeframe.”
