#7 Newsmaker: Renee Bergeron of Ingram Micro North America

This year, under vice-president of managed services and cloud computing, Renee Bergeron, Ingram Micro North America made some strides in helping its partner community focus on the hot technology.

As of October, Ingram has added 12 new vendor relationships and brought to market more than 25 new cloud solutions. “We’re seeing positive gains within our partner community and continue to lead the market as the IT industry’s top cloud services aggregator and single source distribution partner,” she said.

In April, Ingram announced new cloud services, through partnerships with IBM and Intermedia.

Then in June, Bergeron outlined a new cloud strategy, global in scope, but with many local providers involved. That strategy, which was to involve eight new vendors and 15 new cloud solutions, included two interesting new vendors for Ingram’s cloud plans: BMC and Montreal-based hosting service provider SherWeb.

This summer, the distributor also bolstered its cloud offerings, through its “cloud marketplace” for VARs and managed service providers to capitalize on various vendors’ cloud product and services. It added new services from vendors such as Symantec, Trend Micro and N-able and in October, the Services Division of Ingram announced the addition of Kaseya, an automated IT systems management software for managed service providers, to its portfolio.

“I think it’s a natural extension for Ingram Micro. We want to continue to be the one stop shop for our resellers,” Bergeron told CDN in August. “It’s a similar value proposition than it has always been,” with hardware and software.

As of August, more than 12,000 free reference documents and marketing tools have been downloaded from the Ingram Micro Cloud site, which launched in November 2010, according to the company.
