NCR Canada president off to run Europe

NCR Canada president Luc Villeneuve is to be named president of NCR Europe, according to a source close to the Mississauga, Ont.-based subsidiary.

CDN has learned that Villeneuve will be starting his new post, which is based in Paris, in January of 2011.

No word yet on a replacement for Villeneuve who introduced a channel strategy at NCR for the first time in the company’s Canadian history.

A channel veteran who has held executive positions with Sun Microsystems Canada and GE Capital, Villeneuve has made growing the NCR’s indirect channel a priority since he took the helm of the Canadian subsidiary.

While best known as a manufacturer of bank machines, automated grocery store check-out machines and other self-service kiosks, Villeneuve’s vision was to work in partnership with the reseller channel as key to the vendor’s growth plans.

While NCR had a good channel program it wasn’t as friendly as it could have been to partners, said Villeneuve in a previous interview. That’s why NCR is investing in the program and making key changes around programs and incentives. Villeneuve also worked during his tenure to improve communication with and educate partners around some of their partner initiatives.
