McAfee sales strong despite recession
The Register
John Leyden writes about McAfee’s strong sales from last year’s Q4, despite competing in a down economy.

“The security software firm’s Q4 revenues came in at $424 million, an increase of 19 per cent compared to the $356 million recorded in Q42007. Q42008 profits hit $45.4 million, up from $12.2 million in the same period last year. For the year as a whole, McAfee reported revenues of $1.6 billion, up 22 per cent compared on 2007, and a net income of $172 million.”

Cisco Subnet writes based on recent rumours, Cisco may be considering buying VMware from EMC.

“ We do admit that a union between VMware and Cisco makes sense giving Cisco’s desire to push its way into the application server market with its Application eXtension Platform (AXP) and other initiatives. It makes at least as much sense as EMC owning VMware.”
