Bulletproof InfoTech brings best-in-class IT to small non-profit
The Sinneave Family Foundation (SFF) is a Calgary-based non-profit that seeks to improve the quality of life for those living with autism, providing innovation around intervention, education and research. It also serves as a hub for reliable information and resources connecting families, service providers and researchers. To do this, SFF partnered with Bulletproof InfoTech to design a robust technology solution to meet its core requirements – one that would not only meet the needs of the business, but also ensure as a non-profit its critical budget requirements were met.
“When we go to market with Dell, our customers feel at ease because Dell is a brand they recognize in terms of desktops and notebooks. Where we come in as a trusted business advisor is letting them know about everything else Dell has to offer, such as printers, back-end servers and network switches,” said Stuart Crawford, vice-president of business development with Bulletproof Infotech.
Bulletproof recommended Dell™ PowerEdge™ servers and Latitude™ notebooks, as well as Windows Small Business Server® 2008, Windows Server® 2008 and Terminal Services to meet SFF’s technical and budgetary requirements. Small Business Server 2008, for example, allows them to easily communicate with staff and share information using Windows SharePoint Services, while safeguarding confidential information in one central location. SFF is also able to take advantage of Microsoft’s charity software licensing.
Bulletproof also recommended virtualizing Windows Small Business Server 2008 (SBS 2008), ensuring SFF had another level of data protection that would limit their exposure to a serious outage in the event of a system failure. Microsoft has recognized Bulletproof as one of the top three SBS partners worldwide in 2009 for the work it does with virtualized SBS.
With Microsotf Hyper-V™ and Windows Server 2008 on Dell hardware, SFF has a virtual server solution providing security and stability for their information systems. And it was able to leverage its investment in legacy software that required Windows Server 2003 by running two virtualized servers on a Dell PowerEdge 2900 Server.
“All of Dell’s drivers and products worked flawlessly,” said Crawford. “We had an HP printer that we had to replace with a Dell printer because the HP printer didn’t have updated software drivers available to run on Windows Small Business Server 2008. Dell had all the updated drivers and guaranteed it would work, so SFF was hooked up and running flawlessly out-of-the-box.”
Bulletproof offers its own backup and disaster recovery option as part of its managed services platform, which includes an emergency standby Dell server. So, if disaster strikes, it’s able to airlift a Dell server into a client’s site and get them back up and running within a couple of hours.
“We’re confident going to market knowing the Dell products are going to work with the Microsoft infrastructure,” said Crawford, “and we’re not gambling our reputation on technology that hasn’t proven itself in the marketplace.”
